In MotoGP the big news is that Marc Marquez is to leave HRC at the end of the season! It won’t have been cheap to break the contract that still had a year left to run on it but if you’re dead set on leaving and it can be done, you’ll find a way. The most likely destination for the eight-time World Champion is Gresini Ducati alongside his brother, Alex. It’s a shock move for the Spaniard but one
that will hopefully rejuvenate him and his career after a tough last four seasons. Has anyone told Fabio Di Giannantonio he’s out of a ride yet?! Who replaces Marc on the career killer RCV213V, the bike that, as well as Marc, multiple World Champions Jorge Lorenzo and Joan Mir both struggled so publicly with? Johann Zarco is a favourite, despite signing with LCR Honda for 2024, but really, looking at its track record would anyone want to go there willingly?! Tough times at HRC. For the MotoGP Championship, things are getting mighty tight at the top as Jorge Martin makes it five wins in the last six races to close the gap to Pecco Bagnaia to just three points as the flyaway rounds ramp up over the next five weekends. This weekend sees the start of two triple headers to see out the 2023 season – Indonesia is first up before they head to Phillip Island and Thailand, weekend off, then Sepang, Qatar, and the season finale in Valencia. A tough schedule by anyone’s standard and fatigue will play its part.
