Can we see another outstanding performance from Davey Todd in 2024 at The Southern 100 Road Races?

The Southern 100 road races on the Isle of Man were ablaze with excitement as Davey Todd, representing Milenco by Padgetts Honda, dominated the track this week. Todd showcased his prowess with an impressive five wins out of seven starts, including a thrilling victory in Thursday’s feature Solo Championship race.

This was only Todd’s second appearance on the 4.25-mile Billown Course, and he wasted no time making an impact. The week kicked off with a win in Tuesday evening’s first 1000cc race, especially after DAO Racing’s Dean Harrison retired, giving Todd an early advantage.

Despite intense competition from Harrison, Todd continued to shine. Wednesday's 'big bike' races saw Harrison narrowly edge out Todd, but not without Todd setting a new lap record of 116.141mph. Thursday brought another intense battle, with Todd emerging victorious once more, this time with Harrison just 0.032s behind, and Todd setting a new lap record of 116.452mph.

The feature Solo Championship race was the ultimate showdown, spanning nine laps. Harrison, with a stunning lap of 116.941mph, claimed a new outright lap record. However, Todd’s incredible performance secured him the victory with a mere 0.061s lead as they crossed the finish line.

In the 600cc races, the competition was just as fierce. Todd, Harrison, Michael Dunlop, and Jamie Coward fought fiercely for victory in each race. Wednesday’s race saw Todd triumph, with only 1.775s separating the top four at the finish.

Thursday's races followed a similar pattern, with Dunlop taking the first win, closely followed by Harrison, Todd, and Coward, separated by a mere 0.661s. Todd once again claimed victory in the final 600cc race, with Dunlop setting the fastest lap at 110.998mph.

The Lightweight category was a battle of skill and determination, with Coward and Rob Hodson exchanging places throughout each race. Coward secured a win on Wednesday, while Hodson took the win on Thursday, with Coward setting a new lap record of 105.934mph.

In the Sidecar races, Peter Founds and Jevan Walmsley emerged victorious in both races, although they faced a tough challenge from Ryan and Callum Crowe in Thursday’s Championship race. The Crowes set a new lap record of 102.398mph before retiring on lap four, demonstrating the incredible pace of both pairings.

Michael Russell dominated the 600cc 'B' races, while Paul Turner claimed victory in the Consolation race. The Southern 100 road races provided non-stop action and adrenaline, showcasing the incredible talents of these riders on the iconic Isle of Man track.
